Uganda Premier League holders SC Villa kept their double dream alive with a narrow but decisive 1-0 victory over a determined Simba FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32 at Namulonge Grounds.
Simba FC, fresh off their stunning elimination of Mbale Heroes, put up a resolute fight, frustrating the Jogoos in the first half. However, the breakthrough came just five minutes after the restart, thanks to the red-hot Aslam Ssemakula.
New signing Ashraf Mulindi delivered a sublime long ball into the box, picking out an unmarked Ssemakula, who displayed impeccable control and deadly precision to slot home past the helpless Simba goalkeeper.
SC Villa could have put the game to bed when substitute Sula Matovu found space inside the box, but his effort rippled the side netting after a brilliant assist from Patrick Jonah Kakande.

Despite their valiant effort, Simba lacked the final-third sharpness needed to pull off another cup upset, bringing their fairytale run to an end.
Elsewhere in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32, Total FC eliminated Express FC, while Rwenzori FC edged out Buhimba Saints on penalties (4-3) after a goalless draw in normal time.
