Solitilo Bright Stars cruised to a comfortable 2–0 triumph over a depleted Mbale Heroes side in a FUFA Big League Matchday 8 showdown at the Mbale Municipal Stadium on Sunday, 16th November.
In a bizarre twist before kickoff, Mbale Heroes were forced to start with only nine players and without a recognised goalkeeper.
Defender Abraham Okello bravely assumed the role between the posts, donning the gloves in an emergency arrangement that set the tone for a difficult afternoon for the hosts.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Mbale Heroes showed admirable grit in the early exchanges.
But Bright Stars, hungry for a return to the Uganda Premier League, maintained composure and patience.
Their breakthrough arrived in the 35th minute when Sharif Nsereko calmly slotted home from the penalty spot, sending the visitors into halftime in control.
After the interval, Mbale Heroes tried to regroup and push for a response, but the visitors were relentless.
Twenty minutes into the second half, former Onduparaka attacker Mansoor Safi doubled the lead with a composed, clinical effort that effectively put the contest beyond reach.
Mbale Heroes attempted to salvage a late consolation, but Bright Stars’ disciplined backlinemoffered no passage through.
The victory lifts Solitilo Bright Stars to 5th place on 11 points after eight games, while Mbale Heroes slip to 14th with seven points.
Elsewhere, Blacks Power FC beat Ntungasaze 2–1, Iganga United edged Wakiso Giants 1–0, Nebbi Central defeated Kiyinda Boys 2–1, Paidha Black Angels overcame Kaaro Karungi 2–0, and Young Elephants registered a 1–0 win over Bunyaruguru United.
