Express 3–1 Buhimba United
Express FC turned on the style at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, claiming a convincing 3–1 win over Buhimba United in a lively Uganda Premier League contest on Saturday.
The Red Eagles started on the front foot, asserting early dominance and pinning Buhimba in their own half, though the final pass initially let them down.
Their persistence was rewarded in the 21st minute when Mikidadi Ssenyonga unleashed a thunderous strike that left the goalkeeper with no chance, sending the home fans into celebration.
Buhimba United responded swiftly. Just four minutes later, Edson Agondeze rose highest to meet Solomon Akodi’s well-delivered corner, steering home the equaliser to momentarily silence the crowd.
Parity did not last long. Express restored their advantage in the 27th minute as John Asiimwe connected sweetly with a half-volley, finishing off a clever assist from Ssenyonga to cap a frenetic opening spell.
After the break, Express continued to probe. Hakim Wandera came close to adding a third from a dangerous free-kick, but Buhimba goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba pulled off an excellent save to keep his side in contention.
The visitors’ resistance was eventually broken when Henry Wamala sealed the result, calmly finding the net to crown a polished team performance and put the game beyond reach.
The victory lifts Express to 10th place on the league table with 15 points, while Buhimba United remain just below them in 11th position on 13 points after the same number of matches.
