African football legend El Hadji Diouf has officially arrived in Uganda for a much-anticipated four-day visit.
The renowned Senegalese star touched down in Kampala on Saturday, March 8, 2025, marking the realization of previous efforts to bring him to the country.
Diouf’s visit comes at the invitation of celebrated Ugandan musician Edriisa Musuuza, popularly known as Eddy Kenzo.
A two-time CAF Player of the Year (2001, 2002), the former Senegal international is widely admired for his contribution to the Teranga Lions’ golden era, which saw them finish as runners-up in the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations and achieve a historic quarter-final berth at the FIFA World Cup held in South Korea and Japan.

Throughout his illustrious club career, the 44-year-old forward played for a host of teams, including Sochaux, Rennes, Lens, Bolton Wanderers, Doncaster Rovers, Leeds United, and English giants Liverpool FC.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is overseeing the coordination and management of his itinerary during the visit.
Among the key highlights of his tour will be a visit to Big Talent Soccer Academy, an initiative spearheaded by Eddy Kenzo to nurture young football talent in Uganda.
As a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Ambassador, Diouf’s presence is expected to inspire and uplift young players while fostering stronger ties within the football community.
