Calvary FC Emerge Champions of the 2024/25 FUFA Big League

The curtain came down on the 2024-2025 FUFA Big League season with a dramatic and action-packed Matchday 30 that saw promotions sealed, relegations confirmed, and a flurry of goals across the country.

Yumbe-based Calvary FC emerged as league champions after edging Paidha Black Angels 1-0 in a tightly contested West Nile derby at Midigo Primary School grounds.

Despite heavy rain that briefly interrupted proceedings, Calvary remained composed, securing a vital win that took them to 52 points and sealed the title ahead of Sunday’s official coronation.

In Mbale, Gaddafi FC displayed class on a slippery pitch to dispatch Kataka FC 3-0.

Congolese attacker Jonathan Mbula opened the scoring before skipper Thomas Kakaire and veteran forward Frank Kalanda added their names to the scoresheet.

Gaddafi’s win propelled them to 50 points, confirming their promotion to the Uganda Premier League.

Buhimba United Saints also booked a historic ticket to the top tier after holding Kiyinda Boys to a goalless stalemate at Barthlem Grounds in Kiwenda.

In one of the day’s most jaw-dropping results, Arua Hill SC obliterated Booma FC 10-0 in Masindi.

The lopsided scoreline was a brutal farewell for Booma, who had already been relegated before kickoff.

Arua Hill’s relentless attack exposed Booma’s defensive frailties in what turned into a record-setting rout.

Meanwhile, Kigezi Home Boyz preserved their status in the division thanks to a slender 1-0 triumph over MYDA FC in Kabale, courtesy of Joseph Sseremba’s match-winner. The loss condemned MYDA to relegation.

At Akii Bua Stadium, Innocent Maduka was the hero for Blacks Power FC, netting twice to guide his side to a 2-0 win over Busoga United.

Although they fell short in the promotion race, Blacks Power ended their season on a positive note.

Kaaro Karungi and Ntugasaze produced the most entertaining game of the day in a nine-goal thriller at Kyamate Grounds. Kaaro triumphed 6-3, capping their campaign with a dazzling offensive display.

With Calvary, Gaddafi, and Buhimba United Saints stepping up to the Uganda Premier League, and Booma, MYDA, and two others bowing out, the 2024-2025 FUFA Big League season delivered a gripping finale that fans won’t soon forget.
