UPPC Stun Lugazi for First-Ever UPL Win as BUL Edge Maroons

Matchday Two of the Uganda Premier League delivered contrasting tales of grit and glory, as debutants UPPC FC etched their name into history with a dramatic comeback win, while BUL FC laboured to a slender victory over Maroons.

In Entebbe, Bugonga Fisheries Grounds was the stage for UPPC’s first-ever triumph in the top flight.

Lugazi FC, buoyed by last week’s victory, went ahead courtesy of Freedom Mungudit’s precise finish in the 24th minute.

However, the second half saw the Printers roar back with intent as Isa Mubiru’s strike on 63 minutes restored parity before Fazil Tumwine fired home in the 82nd, sealing a 2–1 turnaround that sent the home faithful into wild celebration.

The result signals a new dawn for coach Abdullah’s side, who showed spirit and resilience to bounce back from their opening-day loss to Buhimba.

Earlier at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, BUL FC did just enough to register their first win of the season.

Ibrahim Mugulusi’s composed finish in the 38th minute capped off a well-constructed move, giving the Eastern Giants a lead they fiercely protected.

Maroons probed late on, but BUL’s rearguard stood resilient, securing a 1–0 victory that takes their tally to four points from two games.

Looking ahead, UPPC face a daunting trip to Kadiba to tackle record champions SC Villa, while BUL make the journey to Rwamwanja to confront Mbarara City.
