Kasumba’s Brilliance Inspires Mbogo FC to Flawless Start in Kampala Regional League Opener

The 2025/2026 Kampala Regional League kicked off in dazzling fashion on Sunday, November 2, as electric winger Hamza Kasumba Ssenseko stole the show with a superb brace that inspired Mbogo FC to a commanding 2-0 victory over Kisugu United FC at the FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

On their debut in the league’s new format, Mbogo FC looked every inch the real deal organized, fearless, and ruthless in front of goal.

It was Kasumba who set the tone in the 35th minute, curling home a sensational opener that left the Kisugu backline flat-footed.

The winger later returned in the second half to double the advantage with another stunning finish that sent the Mbogo faithful into wild celebrations.

Kisugu United’s evening went from bad to worse when Steven Bakka received his marching orders for a reckless foul on Joseph Enjama near the halfway line.

Down to 10 men, Kisugu had no answer to Mbogo’s blistering pace and relentless pressure.

While Abdul Razak Takuba caused early problems for Kisugu, it was the dynamic duo of Kasumba and William Sseryange who truly dictated the rhythm, controlling the game with flair and precision that defined Mbogo’s dominant performance.

Earlier in the day, Proline FC and Lufula FC shared the spoils in a heated 1-1 draw, with Proline’s Morris Okello claiming the Man of the Match award for his composed finish and industrious display.

The Kampala Regional League action resumes on Tuesday, November 4, with an exciting lineup of six matches across the city.

The spotlight will shine on the Nakawa Derby, where Water FC welcomes Mutungo FC to the UICT Grounds in what promises to be a fierce neighborhood showdown.

Elsewhere, Edgars FC will square off with Police Young FC at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, while Buganda Road FC face Black Stars FC at Express Grounds, Kanyanya.

The football feast will wrap up under the floodlights at IUIU Kabojja Grounds, where Lungujja Galaxy SC lock horns with Ntinda United FC, following Nsambya SC’s home tie against Wembley Boys FC at Yes Center.
