The Kampala Regional League continues to bubble with excitement as Mutungo FC prepares for a crucial away clash against Water FC at UICT Nakawa on Tuesday, November 4.
Following a thrilling opening double header where Mbogo FC silenced Kisugu United 2-0 and Proline FC shared spoils 1-1 with Lufula FC, all eyes now turn to Mutungo as they look to make an early statement in their quest for FUFA Big League qualification.
However, the side faces a minor setback as new recruits Dickson Wasswa and Robert Okello have been ruled out through injuries.
Despite the blow, head coach Bernard Kazira remains optimistic, banking on the experience and leadership of Captain Aaron Junior Musiima, alongside the reliability of Goalkeeper Stuart Matovu and the attacking flair of Talib Yakole to guide the team.
Mutungo FC holds the psychological edge heading into this encounter, boasting a superior head-to-head record against Water FC—having registered a 1-0 victory and a goalless draw in their last two meetings during the 2023–2024 campaign.
Coach Kazira’s men have made it clear that promotion to the FUFA Big League remains their ultimate target, but they’ll need to outmuscle strong contenders like Mbogo FC, Proline FC, Lungujja Galaxy, and Nsambya SC in what promises to be one of the most competitive Regional League seasons in years.
The Mutungo-Water showdown is one of six fixtures lined up for Tuesday, all kicking off at 4:00 PM to wrap up an electrifying Week One of the Kampala Regional League.
