Kitara End BUL’s Long Unbeaten Run With Narrow Home Victory

Kitara FC brought an emphatic end to BUL FC’s impressive unbeaten streak, edging them 1-0 in a tense Uganda Premier League encounter played on Thursday at the Royals Park in Butema.

The Royals struck early through James Kalema, whose 11th-minute finish separated the two sides.

The forward reacted quickest to slot home after goalkeeper Farouk Yawe spilled Frank Tumwesigye’s teasing delivery into his path.

BUL, who had remarkably gone 25 League matches without defeat, last losing on 4th December 2024 to UPDF FC saw their rhythm disrupted when Cameroonian centre-back Barni Kelvin Tah was dismissed in the 28th minute.

Already on a yellow card picked up in the 13th minute, Tah received his marching orders after another mistimed challenge, forcing the visitors to navigate the remainder of the contest with ten men.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, the Eastern Giants pushed hard for an equaliser, orchestrating several promising moves.

However, Kitara maintained superb defensive discipline, repeatedly repelling BUL’s advances to secure maximum points.

The result lifts Kitara FC to fourth place on the log with ten points. BUL, who entered the match unbeaten this season, slip to fifth but remain level on points with Kitara.

The victory not only energises the Royals’ campaign but also resets the narrative at the top end of the table as the title race continues to gather pace.
