AFCON 2025: Title Dream Alive for Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt and Senegal

The battle for continental supremacy has reached fever pitch after Saturday’s pulsating quarter-final encounters confirmed the final four at the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles stamped their authority in Marrakesh with a commanding 2–0 victory over Algeria.

Victor Osimhen once again proved decisive, while Adam Akor added the finishing touch to sink the Desert Foxes and propel Nigeria into the semi-finals.

The West Africans now brace for a daunting test against tournament hosts Morocco, with the clash scheduled for Wednesday night at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Elsewhere, seven-time champions Egypt showcased their trademark resilience in a dramatic 3–2 triumph over defending champions Ivory Coast in Agadir.

The Pharaohs edged a thrilling contest thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush and Ramy Rabia. An Ahmed Fatouh own goal and a strike from Sebastien Haller’s replacement, Doue, were not enough to save the Ivorians from elimination.

The win sets up a blockbuster semi-final between Egypt and Senegal in Tangier, rekindling memories of the 2021 final. All eyes will once again be on Mohamed Salah as he prepares to lock horns with former Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane in what promises to be another epic chapter in their storied rivalry.
