Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC (Yanga) are set to officially unveil Ugandan midfield star Allan Okello following the completion of his high-profile transfer from Vipers SC.
Okello, who has already sealed his move to Dar es Salaam, is expected to land in Tanzania on Monday, January 12, ahead of his much-anticipated presentation to the Yanga faithful.
The unveiling is expected on Tuesday, January 13, during the Mapinduzi Cup final clash between Young Africans SC and Azam, providing a grand stage for the club’s latest marquee signing.
The former Vipers playmaker arrives at Yanga on the back of a landmark deal valued at approximately UGX 1 billion, with sources indicating that he received a UGX 360 million sign-on fee.
Okello is also set to earn a monthly salary of about UGX 54 million, underlining Yanga’s belief in his quality and their ambition to strengthen ahead of domestic and continental challenges.
Yanga view Okello as a key addition to their midfield, banking on his creativity, vision, and experience to make an immediate impact as the club pushes for silverware both at home and on the continental stage.
For Ugandan football, Okello’s unveiling will symbolize another major step in the growing recognition of Ugandan talent within the East African transfer market, as top clubs continue to invest heavily in players from the Uganda Premier League.
