Derrick Ngobi Seals Rwanda Switch with Gasogi United

Ugandan defender Derrick Ngobi has taken his career across the border after completing a move to Rwandan Premier League side Gasogi United FC.

The right back joins the Kigali-based club as a free agent following his departure from Express FC at the start of the ongoing Uganda Premier League season. Ngobi has signed a one-year employment contract, marking his first stint in Rwandan top-flight football.

Renowned for his adaptability, Ngobi is comfortable operating both as a centre back and as an attack-minded right back, a quality that adds depth and flexibility to the Gasogi United backline.

His football journey has seen him turn out for several clubs including Kikyusa FC, Luweero United, Soltilo Bright Stars, Kenyan outfit Sofapaka and Express FC, where he enjoyed two separate spells. On the domestic scene, he has also been a familiar face in the Masaza Cup, representing Bulemeezi.

Ngobi wasted little time integrating into his new surroundings, featuring in Gasogi United’s friendly encounter against Marine FC, which ended in a 2–2 draw.

At Gasogi United, he links up with fellow Ugandan, former SC Villa and Gaddafi striker Faizo Kazibwe. The club currently sits 10th on the Rwanda Premier League standings with 22 points accumulated from 17 matches as they push for a strong finish to the season.
