Record champions SC Villa face a must-win encounter on Saturday as they travel to Bugonga to take on Entebbe UPPC in the Uganda Premier League.
The clash at the Fisheries Ground Bugonga offers both sides a chance to revive their campaigns after a disappointing start to the second round of the season.
The hosts have struggled for consistency since the league resumed, managing just one victory in that period. With 36 points, Entebbe sit sixth on the table, only two points behind fifth-placed Villa, making the contest crucial for both teams as they aim to remain competitive in the league standings.
For Villa, the pressure is even greater. The Jogoos have also endured a difficult run in the second half of the campaign, collecting only a single win and falling nine points behind league leaders Vipers SC. Any further slip-ups could effectively end their slim hopes of mounting a late title push.
Villa will rely on the attacking influence of Frank Ssebuufu, Patrick Kakande, Hassan Mubiru and Najib Yiga as they attempt to unlock an Entebbe defence that has been difficult to break down this season, having recorded 12 clean sheets.
On the other hand, Entebbe will count on forward Ambrose Kigozi to provide the cutting edge in front of goal as they seek a vital home victory.
When the two sides met earlier in the season at FUFA Stadium Kadiba, the encounter ended in a 1-1 draw, with Villa rescuing a point through a late equaliser.
In other league fixtures scheduled for Saturday, KCCA FC travel to Najjembe to face Lugazi FC, while champions Vipers SC host Calvary FC at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Elsewhere, Maroons FC welcome UPDF FC at Prisons Grounds in Luzira, while Express FC face URA FC under the floodlights at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
