FUFA Drum: Lango, Buganda Join Bunyoro and Acholi in Semifinals

Defending champions Lango have secured a place in the semifinals of the FUFA Drum after narrowly overcoming Teso in a tightly contested quarterfinal tie played on Sunday in Lira.

A decisive moment arrived late in the second leg when Emmanuel Oketch struck in the 79th minute, handing Lango a 1-0 victory on the day. With the first encounter ending in a barren draw, that solitary goal proved enough to separate the sides, as Lango advanced 1-0 on aggregate to keep their title defense alive.

Elsewhere, 2019 champions Buganda also booked their spot in the final four following a hard-fought contest against Tooro. After a goalless first leg in Lugazi, the return fixture produced more drama as the two teams settled for a 1-1 draw.

Tooro broke the deadlock in the 21st minute through Joseph Ssemujju, but Buganda responded almost immediately, with Viane Ssekajugo leveling matters just four minutes later. The result saw Buganda progress on the away goals rule, underlining their resilience on the road.

They now join Bunyoro, Acholi, and Lango in the semifinals, completing a competitive lineup for the next stage.

Acholi needed penalties to see off Busoga after both sides were locked at 2-2 on aggregate, eventually triumphing 3-1 in the shootout. Meanwhile, Bunyoro edged past former champions West Nile with a slim 1-0 victory to seal their passage.
