In a dramatic twist to an ongoing contractual dispute, world football governing body FIFA has ordered Angolan midfielder Carlos Da Silva Cungulo, widely known as Gui, to pay Uganda Premier League giants KCCA FC a total of $4,000 for breach of contract and absconding from duty.
Gui, who joined the Kasasiro Boys in July 2023 on a two-year deal from Angolan powerhouse Clube 1 de Agosto, mysteriously went AWOL midway through last season, leaving the Lugogo-based side without any official communication.
His abrupt exit left both fans and management stunned, especially after he had featured in 17 league games, showcasing flashes of brilliance in the KCCA midfield.

According to Emilio García Silvero, FIFA’s Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, the 25-year-old has 45 days from the notification of the decision to make full payment to his former employers.
“Should the player fail to settle the due amount within the stipulated period, he will face a restriction from participating in official matches until the full payment is made,” read part of the FIFA verdict.
Gui’s short-lived spell at KCCA FC was expected to rejuvenate the club’s midfield depth, but his sudden disappearance painted a grim picture of contractual indiscipline that has recently troubled African football transfers.
