Baker Mbowa to Take Charge of Wakiso Giants

Wakiso Giants have turned to seasoned tactician Baker Mbowa to steer their redemption journey ahead of the 2025/26 FUFA Big League season.

Credible sources reveal that Mbowa will be flanked by former Kampala Queens head coach Hamza Lutalo, who is lined up to serve as his assistant in what promises to be a fresh dawn for the Purple Sharks.

Mbowa, a familiar face in Ugandan football circles, had a busy 2024/25 campaign, guiding Express FC in the first round before crossing to Mbale Heroes in the second.

His coaching résumé is equally rich, boasting stints at Proline, KCCA FC, Soltilo Bright Stars, and more experiences that will be vital in reviving Wakiso’s ambitions.

The move comes in the wake of the dismissal of Steven Bengo, who parted ways with the club following their painful relegation from the Uganda Premier League.

That setback ended the team’s five-year stay in the topflight and triggered a major squad shake-up that left the roster almost bare.

With Mbowa at the helm and Lutalo providing tactical support, Wakiso Giants are setting sights on an instant bounce-back to the UPL.
