Once touted as Uganda’s next great midfield architect, Bright Anukani now finds himself at a painful turning point in his career.
The Proline Academy graduate, who once dazzled with his elegance on the ball and eye for a killer pass, has been omitted from KCCA’s 30-man squad for the 2025/26 campaign.
Adding salt to the wound, his iconic No.14 jersey has already been handed to new signing Rogers Mugisha, symbolically underlining the end of his chapter at Lugogo.

Anukani’s return to KCCA last season, after a spell at Vipers, began with promise.
Under Abdallah Mubiru, he thrived in a midfield trio alongside Said Mayanja and Joel Sserunjogi, dictating play with flair and composure.
But as the season wore on, his influence waned. By the closing stages, he had slipped down the pecking order, left out of the starting eleven and branded surplus to requirements in the new coaching regime of Brian Ssenyondo and Jackson Magera.
Curiously, while his name is missing from the official squad list, it also doesn’t appear among the departed players. This raises the burning question echoing among KCCA faithful: Where exactly is Bright Anukani?

Sources reveal that the player’s camp is locked in delicate discussions with the club hierarchy over an intended contract termination.
At the heart of the standoff lies unpaid obligations and a lack of compensation for services rendered, issues that, if unresolved, could stall Anukani’s move to a new home.
Kitara FC, SC Villa and UPPC Entebbe are understood to be monitoring the situation closely, eager to pounce on a player whose talent remains unquestionable, even if unfulfilled.
At only 24, Anukani’s creative spark still flickers, but his next move will define whether he reignites his career or fades into football’s “what could have been” stories.
