BUL FC Deepen KCCA’s Woes as Magera Era Begins with Home Defeat

Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club endured a tough evening at the MTN Omondi Stadium, falling 2-1 to BUL FC in a Uganda Premier League showdown that marked the beginning of a new era without former head coach Abdallah Mubiru.

Stepping into the dugout for the first time, interim tactician Jackson Magera was unable to inspire a turnaround in fortunes, as his side struggled to impose themselves against a resilient and tactically disciplined BUL team.

The visitors took the lead just before the half-hour mark, with Jeromy Kirya capitalising on a mishap by custodian Mutwalibu Mugolofa to break the deadlock.

The Kasasiro faithful nearly had something to cheer before halftime, but Saidi Mayanja’s glancing header from an inviting Arafat Usama delivery narrowly missed the target.

Despite showing more intent after the interval, KCCA’s attacking efforts were repeatedly thwarted by a composed BUL backline and an alert Joel Mutakubwa between the sticks.

The BUL shot-stopper stood tall, producing key interventions to deny efforts from Gavin Kizito and Joel Sserunjogi.

With just minutes left in regulation time, Karim Ndugwa made it 2-0, finishing off a lightning-fast transition move sparked by Isaac Musiima. KCCA managed to claw one back through Ashraf Mugume deep into stoppage time, but it was too little, too late.

This latest setback means KCCA have now suffered consecutive defeats, having previously been routed by Kitara.

The result cements BUL’s status as serious contenders, with the Jinja-based side climbing to third on 42 points after 23 outings.

Meanwhile, KCCA sit in sixth place, holding 34 points from an equal number of fixtures.
