Happy Boyz Kagaba Through to Last Eight After Shootout Victory

Happy Boyz Kagaba FC booked their place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Stanbic Uganda Cup after edging Six O’Clock 5–4 in a tense penalty shootout following a barren stalemate in Kassanda on Monday.

The Round of 16 encounter, staged at Kagaba Primary School playground, failed to produce goals in regulation time as both teams created opportunities but lacked the finishing touch in the final third.

With neither side able to break the deadlock after 90 minutes, the tie was settled via spot kicks. Happy Boyz Kagaba displayed composure under pressure, converting all five of their penalties to narrowly overcome Six O’Clock, who managed four.

The victory sees the Kassanda-based outfit become the first team to progress to the last eight of this year’s competition, marking a significant milestone in their cup journey.

Action in the Round of 16 continues on Tuesday with a doubleheader at the Phillip Omondi Stadium. NEC FC will lock horns with Lugazi FC in the afternoon kickoff, before KCCA FC face Onduparaka FC in the evening fixture.

Winners from the remaining ties will join Happy Boyz Kagaba in the quarterfinals ahead of the official draw conducted by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations competitions department.

The eventual champions of the tournament will earn the right to represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup, with holders Vipers SC still in contention as they seek to defend their crown.
