Jackson Magera to Steer KCCA FC Through Remainder of the Season After Mubiru Exit

Jackson Kaddu Magera has been handed the responsibility of guiding KCCA FC through the rest of the Uganda Premier League season, following the abrupt departure of head coach Abdallah Mubiru.

The club confirmed the coaching shake-up on Thursday, announcing that Magera, who has been serving as the second assistant coach, will take over on a caretaker basis until the campaign concludes.

Mubiru’s, took over the reins in November 2023, signing a two-year contract after the departure of Portuguese tactician Sergio Traguil.

Despite high expectations, Mubiru struggled to maintain consistent results, with the team currently occupying sixth place on the league log.

In 22 matches this season, KCCA FC has collected 34 points, winning nine games, drawing seven, and losing six.

The Kasasiro Boys have scored 28 goals and conceded 18 under his stewardship.

His overall record in charge of the club stands at 23 wins, 10 draws, and 11 defeats from 44 league matches.

The decision to relieve Mubiru of his duties followed a crushing 4-0 defeat to Kitara FC an opponent he had previously dismissed as “minor” in the build-up to the match.

The result seemingly sealed his fate as pressure mounted from fans and club hierarchy alike.

Now, all eyes turn to Magera, who will begin his interim role on Saturday, April 12, when KCCA hosts BUL FC at the MTN Philip Omondi Stadium.

Known for his calm demeanor and deep understanding of the club’s structure, Magera will be tasked with stabilizing the team, reigniting their push for a strong finish, and restoring confidence among the players and supporters.
