Kampala Regional League – Mbogo United Held in Six-Goal Thriller as Buganda Road Strike Late

Mbogo United FC endured another evening of mixed fortunes after being held to a pulsating 3-3 draw by Buganda Road in a dramatic encounter at Kawempe Muslim SS on Friday.

Coming into the clash desperate to bounce back from their midweek loss to Edgars, Mbogo United seemed to be in full command for large spells. Their early intent was rewarded when forward Hamuza Kasumba coolly slotted home from the spot after being brought down inside the box.

Kasumba later doubled the advantage with a beautifully curled free kick early in the second stanza, sending the Mbogo faithful into wild celebration and placing the visitors firmly in the driver’s seat.

But Buganda Road refused to fade. With unwavering grit, they clawed their way back into the contest, netting twice in quick succession to level matters heading into the final tense five minutes.

Mbogo thought they had escaped with all three points when Adiiri Mpiima rose highest to nod home a towering header just moments before stoppage time. However, the script still had one final twist.

Deep into added time, Buganda Road capitalized on a rebound from a ferocious free kick, smashing in the equalizer that shocked Mbogo and sent the home crowd into a frenzy.

The draw leaves Mbogo United on four points, still hunting for momentum as their winless run stretches to two matches. They will be eager to rediscover their edge when they visit Water FC on Saturday, 22nd November.
