Mutungo FC sent an early warning to their Kampala Regional League rivals with a breathtaking 4-0 demolition of Water FC at UICT Nakawa on Tuesday morning.
It was a night of pure brilliance and teamwork as Geoffrey Ssali and Deogracious Adule both struck twice, while Patrick Mukuza Bango ran the show with a sensational hat-trick of assists.
Mutungo wasted no time announcing their intent, the opening 20 minutes were a statement of dominance. Ssali opened the scoring after being teed up by Mukuza before Adule doubled the advantage moments later from Ssali’s clever setup.
The third goal was poetry in motion — a Mukuza cross met Adule’s head perfectly, sending Mutungo into a comfortable 3-0 lead before halftime, leaving Water FC gasping for ideas.
Despite Water FC coach Charles Ayeiko rallying his troops after the break, Mutungo’s class continued to sparkle. Captain Aaron Musime orchestrated a dazzling buildup involving Mukuza, Innocent Tumuhimbise, and Majid Edema, which ended with Adule calmly slotting home his second of the day to complete the rout.
The emphatic win not only gives Mutungo FC a dream start to the season but also sends a strong message across the division — the boys from Nakawa mean business.
Next up, the red-hot Mutungo side will host Kireka United in the fiery Nakawa Derby at Luzira Prisons on Saturday, November 8.
Elsewhere, Kireka United edged Lukuli Hearts 1-0, Black Star claimed a 4-3 thriller against Buganda Road, Nsambya and Wembley Boys shared a six-goal draw (3-3), while Born Talent held PCCP FC to a 1-1 stalemate.
