KCCA Face Express Test as Title Race Heats Up

Thirteen-time league champions KCCA FC will host traditional rivals Express FC on Wednesday evening at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, seeking another crucial victory to maintain pressure on table leaders Vipers SC.

The Kasasiro Boys head into the highly anticipated clash in strong form, having secured three consecutive victories that have revived their ambitions of challenging for the league crown. Their latest triumph came in a hard-fought 2-1 win against Police FC, a result that further boosted confidence in the camp.

Express, on the other hand, will take encouragement from their recent defensive display after holding rivals SC Villa to a goalless draw at the FUFA Technical Centre Kadiba.

The encounter pits two experienced tacticians against each other, with Brian Ssenyondo and Jackson Magera expected to guide KCCA into the match as favourites. However, the Red Eagles are unlikely to make things easy despite their struggles this season.

Express have managed just one win in their last ten league matches, but they remain difficult to beat, going unbeaten in their previous five outings—all ending in draws.

KCCA will also need to keep a close watch on Express’ attacking threats, particularly Marvin Nyanzi and Kenneth Kimera, while former Kasasiro midfielder Gift Ali could make his debut against his old side.

Interestingly, Express have enjoyed recent success at Lugogo. The Red Eagles have won their last two visits to KCCA and have lost only once in their previous five trips to face the Kasasiro Boys.

Meanwhile, in other fixtures on Wednesday, champions Vipers SC travel to Bombo to face UPDF FC at the Military Barracks Ground Bombo.

Elsewhere, URA FC will host Lugazi FC under the lights at the Hamz Stadium Nakivubo in another encounter expected to influence the standings.
