Kigozi Goal Sends Entebbe UPPC Into Title Mix

Entebbe UPPC FC kept their Uganda Premier League title ambitions alive after edging Mbarara City FC 1-0 on Tuesday at Bugonga Fisheries Grounds.

Ambrose Kigozi struck the only goal in the 43rd minute, calmly finishing from Steven Munguci’s pass to register his ninth goal of the season. The win was Entebbe’s 10th of the campaign and their ninth clean sheet.

Entebbe dominated large spells of the game, with Julius Poloto and Adongo providing width, while Mbarara threatened occasionally through long-range efforts from Issa Bugembe and Kanyike.

Poloto nearly doubled the lead late on but rattled the crossbar in the 76th minute as the hosts held on for all three points.

The victory lifts Entebbe UPPC to third on 34 points, one win behind leaders Vipers and second-placed Kitara. Mbarara City remain 12th with 15 points.

Elsewhere, Police FC drew 1-1 with Buhimba United Saints.
