Hoima-based giants Kitara FC have stamped their authority on the domestic transfer market with a string of high-profile acquisitions and bold contract renewals, sending a clear message of intent ahead of the new season.
After finishing 7th on the 16-team log last season, the Royals are on an upward trajectory.
Their turnaround began after appointing seasoned tactician Wasswa Bbosa, who replaced Brian Ssenyondo at a time when the club was dangling dangerously in the relegation zone.
Bbosa rejuvenated the side, inspiring them to a respectable finish that sealed a place in the prestigious Super 8.
Determined to build on that momentum, Kitara have approached this transfer window with both ambition and precision.
The first key development saw the renewal of contracts for the technical team.
In this reshuffle, George William Lutalo was elevated to the position of head coach while Wasswa Bbosa assumed the assistant coach role, a move that blends youthful energy with vast experience on the bench.
The club also ensured stability by renewing contracts for several of their stars whose deals had expired.
Among those committing to two more years with the Royals are Patrick Kaddu, Frank “Zaga” Tumwesigye, and Jasper Aheebwa, players whose quality and consistency have been vital in the team’s progress.
Kitara’s transfer dealings officially kicked off with the capture of Kakomo Amir, a midfield engine who has previously featured for SC Villa, NEC FC, Gaddafi FC and Gomba Saza.
Reinforcements at the back soon followed as Musisi Henry and Shadiq Ssekyembe joined from Mbarara City FC, with the latter boasting further experience at Express FC and Gaddafi FC.
The biggest headline-grabber, however, was the shock arrival of former Uganda Cranes and Vipers SC stalwart, Juuko Murushid.
Having played for Simba SC in Tanzania and Express FC in Uganda, Juuko’s wealth of experience promises to transform Kitara’s defense into one of the most formidable in the league.
The Royals did not stop there, they added Ssebandeke Eddie, a promising youngster from Express FC, as well as Isa Lumu Mzee, a defensive rock with stints at Tooro United, SC Villa and Express FC.
To cap off their aggressive recruitment, Kitara unveiled Gaddafi Wahab, a midfield maestro joining from NEC FC who has also made his mark at Onduparaka FC and Arua Hill SC.
