Kyaggwe Seal Semifinal Spot After Holding Ssese at Lutoboka

Kyaggwe Ssaza became the first side to storm into the 2025 Masaza Cup semifinals after holding Ssese to a tense 1-1 stalemate in the return leg at the Lutoboka Ssaza ground on Saturday, October 4.

With a 2-0 cushion from the first leg, Kyaggwe only needed to avoid defeat to punch their ticket, and they did just that progressing 3-1 on aggregate.

Ssese, cheered on by a lively home crowd on the Kalangala island, drew first blood in the opening half to ignite hopes of a miraculous comeback.

But those dreams were dashed midway through the second stanza when Kyaggwe’s talisman David Mugalu struck a clinical equaliser around the 60th minute, effectively shutting the door on Ssese’s campaign.

The result sent wild celebrations through the Kyaggwe camp, who now eagerly await the winner between Busujju and Buweekula in the semifinals.

Buweekula, who edged Busujju 1-0 away in the first leg, will be looking to finish the job when they host the decisive return leg on Sunday, October 5.

Elsewhere in the quarterfinals, Mawokota face Ssingo after a barren draw in the first leg, while Buluuli host Bugerere, hoping to overturn a 2-1 deficit.
