BUL FC had to show patience and resilience to see off Buhimba United Saints in a tightly contested Uganda Premier League clash played on Tuesday at Royals Park in Butema.
The match produced limited clear-cut opportunities as both sides remained cautious for most of the encounter. Just when the game appeared destined for a stalemate, Karim Ndugwa stepped up to break the deadlock in dramatic fashion.
Ndugwa rose highest to nod home a well-delivered free kick from Richard Okello in the 89th minute, sealing a hard-earned victory for the Eastern Giants.
The result pushes BUL up to eighth place on the table with 29 points, strengthening their position in the middle of the standings. Meanwhile, Buhimba United Saints remain dangerously close to the relegation zone, sitting just one place above the drop with 15 points.
In another fixture played on Tuesday, Maroons FC secured a narrow 1-0 victory over bottom side Calvary FC at Midigo Primary School Playground. Ivan Asaba struck the decisive goal to hand Maroons maximum points.
Elsewhere, Police FC edged SC Villa 1-0 in Kamwokya, while Kitara FC claimed the Western derby bragging rights with a slim 1-0 triumph over Mbarara City FC.
