Lira Town College has officially clinched the hosting rights for the 2026 USSSA Boys Football Championships, outshining formidable bids from Lango College and a joint proposal by St Mary’s College Rushorooza and Kigezi High School.
The declaration follows September’s bid opening, during which USSSA Chief Executive Officer Mugisha Christopher Banage underscored the need for schools to present robust facilities, exceptional organizational muscle, and unwavering community backing to earn the honour of hosting one of Uganda’s most prestigious youth tournaments.
In a rigorous evaluation process, Lira Town College impressed the committee with its readiness, visionary long-term plan, and spirited commitment to nurturing the future of school sports.

However, USSSA also pointed out several areas that require fine-tuning, naming a standby host should Lira Town College fail to meet the final benchmarks.
Still, the association expressed confidence in LTC’s ability to bridge the noted gaps and deliver a world-class championship.
The National Secondary School Championships remain a cornerstone for unearthing and developing young talent across Uganda.
The 2025 edition, successfully hosted by Ngora High School, saw Buddo Secondary School claim the football title.
Beyond football, several institutions have been designated to host major events in 2026. Janan Secondary School Bombo Campus will oversee the Elite Games, Seroma Christian High School and Sacred Heart Gulu will handle Games I and II respectively, while Seroma Christian School has been entrusted with organizing the Swimming Gala.
As preparations kick off, USSSA has tasked all hosting schools to guarantee adequate competition venues, accommodation, medical support, feeding logistics, security, and overall infrastructure to ensure a seamless and safe championship experience.
