Lugazi FC shot-stopper Juma Mutebi is on the brink of sealing a move to Uganda Premier League outfit NEC FC, with the Bugolobi-based side closing in on a long-term solution between the posts.
He is expected to arrive as a replacement for veteran custodian Benjamin Ochan, whose contract with NEC elapsed in January, leaving a noticeable gap in the squad’s goalkeeping unit.
Mutebi, who linked up with Lugazi FC at the start of the 2024/25 season, is understood to be finalising a two-year agreement with NEC, marking the next major step in his steadily rising career.
The goalkeeper’s football journey dates back to 2014 when he was nurtured at Aspire Soccer Academy before moving to Joswill Soccer Academy a year later.
His development continued through school football, where he featured for Nakaseke International College and Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, later turning out for Kibuli Secondary School in various competitions.
At club level, Mutebi joined Ntugasaze FC in January 2022 and quickly made his mark, registering nine appearances during the second round of the 2021/22 Buganda Regional League season.
His performances earned him a move to KCCA FC, a stint that further sharpened his experience at the top level before his switch to Lugazi FC.
