Lugazi Seek First Away Win as Bogere Warns of Maroons’ Resilience

The Uganda Premier League returns with a crucial clash in Luzira as Lugazi FC travel to face Maroons FC, a side that has traditionally troubled them.

Co-head coach Steven Bogere has urged his charges to approach the fixture with sharpness and caution, noting the quality and experience embedded within the Prison Warders’ squad.

Lugazi, nicknamed the Leaders, dominated their previous outing against Express but failed to convert a string of chances, something Bogere insists must change if they are to break their away hoodoo.

“Maroons are an organized and experienced group with players who’ve competed in this league for years,” Bogere commented. “They beat us both home and away last season, so we must be alert. At the same time, we believe in our strength and will push for our first victory away from home this season.”

Lugazi will travel without Derrick Mwanje and Alfred Leku, both unavailable for selection, though the technical team remains confident in the depth of their squad.

Maroons enter the match with only one win in six fixtures, sitting third from the bottom on five points, and looking to spark life into their season.

Lugazi, meanwhile, have collected nine points from seven matches but are still chasing their first away success after going eight consecutive league trips without victory since their 3–1 triumph over Mbale Heroes in March.

Elsewhere on the day, SC Villa visit UPDF at the Military Barracks in Bombo, while NEC host bottom-placed Calvary under the Lugogo floodlights.
