Uganda Cranes winger Martin Kizza has taken a fresh step in his professional career after officially putting pen to paper on a six-month deal with South Sudan Premier League outfit El Merriekh SC Bentiu, ahead of the second stanza of the 2025/26 campaign.
The 28-year-old wide attacker successfully completed his medical examinations before sealing the short-term move, as El Merriekh look to reinforce their squad with experience and attacking flair.
Renowned for his electric pace, work rate and tactical flexibility, Kizza is comfortable operating on either wing, attributes that make him a valuable addition to the Bentiu-based side.

Kizza’s football journey has been both extensive and diverse. He first made his name on the domestic scene in Uganda, featuring for several traditional heavyweights including SC Villa, KCCA FC, Express FC and Vipers SC, where his performances established him as one of the more reliable wide options in the league.
Beyond Uganda, the winger broadened his horizons with stints in South Africa, turning out for Free State Stars and Royal Eagles, experiences that sharpened his competitive edge. Most recently, he was plying his trade in the Ethiopian Premier League with Fasil Kenema FC, adding another chapter to his growing continental résumé.
On the international stage, Kizza is no stranger to national duty, having earned multiple caps with the Uganda Cranes.
His exposure at both club and international levels is expected to play a key role as El Merriekh SC Bentiu push for strong results in the second half of the season.
The move also underlines the rising appeal of the South Sudan Premier League, which continues to attract Ugandan players seeking fresh challenges.
Kizza joins a growing list of compatriots in the league, including Jude Ssemugabi, Nicholas Kagaba and Hassan Wasswa Dazo, highlighting a strengthening football connection between the two nations.
