NEC FC Captures Another Midfielder From Express

NEC FC have strengthened their midfield ranks after confirming the acquisition of midfielder Ramsey Kawooya from Express FC.

Kawooya becomes the ninth arrival at NEC during the ongoing mid-season transfer window, underlining the club’s ambition to mount a strong push in the second round of the campaign.

The industrious midfielder returns to Lugogo having rejoined the Red Eagles in the second round of last season following a six-month spell at BUL FC. His experience across the domestic league and abroad is expected to add steel and composure to NEC’s engine room.

Before making his name locally, Kawooya featured in Sweden where he turned out for Vaxjo United, Karlskrona FC, Somaliska and FK Almeboda Linneryd, gaining valuable exposure in European football.

At NEC, he joins a midfield department that already boasts Dan Shabena, Shamir Kimwero and Siraje Sentamu, as well as fellow new recruit Tony Atukunda. His versatility and work rate are anticipated to provide healthy competition and tactical flexibility.

Kawooya also becomes the fifth player to cross from Express to NEC in recent times, following in the footsteps of Richard Basangwa, Hakim Wandera, Rashid Kawawa and Muhammad Ssenoga Kagawa.

Elsewhere, NEC have reinforced other areas of the squad with the additions of goalkeeper Juma Mutebi from Lugazi FC and forward Samuel Ssekamatte Kayongo from UPDF FC.

In a further show of confidence in the current group, Hannington Ssebwalunyo and defender Ibrahim Kiyemba have each penned fresh two-year contracts, keeping them at the club as NEC continue to shape a competitive squad for the remainder of the season.
