NEC FC Suspend Head Coach Hussein Mbalangu

In a dramatic twist at Lugogo, NEC FC head coach Hussein Mbalangu has been suspended for two months, this website has exclusively learnt.

The decision, according to reliable club sources, follows Mbalangu’s involvement with Ssingo, one of the 2025 Masaza Cup finalists, where he has been serving among the team’s technical brains.

The development has not sat well with NEC’s top brass, especially after a disappointing start to their campaign both domestically and continentally.

The Die Hards crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup at the hands of Kenya’s Nairobi United, and have since failed to find winning rhythm in the Uganda Premier League, managing only two draws against URA FC and Police FC.

Their most recent outing saw NEC blow a two-goal lead to settle for a 2-2 draw with Police FC last Saturday at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, a result that deepened frustrations within the camp.

With Mbalangu out of the picture for now, assistant coach James Odoch will step into the hot seat, tasked with reigniting the team’s spark as they prepare to face Entebbe UPPC FC on Saturday, 25th October at Bugonga Fisheries Grounds.
