Police FC will be eager to bounce back swiftly when they cross to Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Saturday to take on a struggling URA side as the first round of the Uganda Premier League comes to a close.
The Cops were humbled 4-1 by table leaders Vipers in their previous outing and now find themselves nine points adrift at the summit.
Anything short of victory against the Tax Collectors would further dent their fading title ambitions, making the Nakivubo clash a must-win affair.
URA, however, are equally under pressure. The former champions are enduring a torrid run, having gone six matches without a win.
Five straight defeats were only halted by a draw against Calvary last time out, but the alarming slide has left them hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone. With 12 points and sitting 14th, URA are just a single point above the drop.
Police coach Matia Lule will look to his attacking quartet of Bedia Ikamba, Brian James Obedi, Umar Kasumba and Charles Bbale to rediscover their sharpness and fire the side back to winning ways.
On the opposite bench, URA will bank on the experience and quality of Nelson Ssenkatuka, Fred Amaku and their supporting cast as they chase a much-needed win that would also hand Hussein Mbalangu his first victory since taking charge after a challenging start to life in the dugout.
History slightly favours the Tax Collectors. Since 2013, the two sides have faced off 22 times, with URA claiming 12 wins, while Police have managed four victories and six encounters ending all square.
Away from Nakivubo, the league offers a full menu of fixtures as the round wraps up. SC Villa entertain Lugazi under the lights at Kadiba, Kitara make the long trip to face Calvary in Yumbe, NEC host Express at Lugogo, while Maroons welcome Mbarara City at Luzira.
