SC Villa Defender Join Kenya Premier League Side

Kenya Premier League new boys APS Bomet have dipped into the Ugandan talent pool, unveiling the double signing of defender Edward Masembe and goalkeeper Delton Oyo on two-year contracts each.

The duo arrive as free agents, with Masembe making the switch after parting ways with SC Villa during the latter stages of last season, while Oyo joins following the relegation of Mbale Heroes, where he stood between the sticks after his own stint at Villa Park.

Both players were named in APS Bomet’s match-day squad during their maiden top-flight clash against Shabana FC last week.

Masembe slotted straight into the heart of defense, while Oyo served as backup goalkeeper on the bench.

A towering shot-stopper with pedigree, Oyo has donned the national colors for Uganda at the U17 (Cubs) and U20 (Hippos) levels, and previously guarded the posts for Busoga United.

Masembe, on the other hand, rose through the ranks at Impala Hill in the Kampala Regional League before securing a move to record Ugandan champions SC Villa.

The fresh recruits will be key as APS Bomet navigates the rigors of their debut top-tier campaign. The club earned promotion from the second division last season alongside Nairobi United, currently NEC FC’s opponents in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Adding further intrigue, APS Bomet recently handed the reins to seasoned tactician Michael Nam Ouma, a former Vipers SC coach, signaling their intent to compete with the league’s heavyweights.
