Record holders SC Villa will have their credentials put to the test when they meet Vipers SC in one of the most anticipated quarterfinal clashes of the 2025 Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The draw, held at Kansai Plascon Headquarters in Kampala, threw up a mouthwatering tie as SC Villa, winners of the competition nine times, were paired with three-time champions Vipers SC a fixture that has all the ingredients of a classic.
This latest chapter in their storied rivalry comes just weeks after Villa edged Vipers 1-0 in a tightly contested league match, with Charles Lwanga’s goal proving the difference.
Villa will now look to repeat that feat in knockout football, where the margin for error is even slimmer.
The Jogoos booked their quarterfinal ticket with a commanding performance against Lugazi FC, continuing their flawless run on the road this season. On the other hand, Vipers made light work of Blacks Power to keep their title ambitions alive.
While both sides boast rich histories, only one will advance to the semifinals, and with pride, bragging rights, and silverware on the line, fireworks are expected when the two giants collide.
The quarterfinals, set to take place between April 18th and 22nd, will see matches decided by penalties if level after 90 minutes adding even more drama to an already high-stakes encounter.
