Record champions SC Villa face a must-win encounter against Police FC on Tuesday afternoon at the Kiira Road Police Arena as the Uganda Premier League title race intensifies.
The Jogoos head into the contest under pressure after settling for a frustrating stalemate against rivals Express FC at FUFA Stadium Kadiba over the weekend. That result left Villa on 38 points, six behind table leaders Vipers SC, making victory on Tuesday essential if they are to keep their championship ambitions alive.
Meanwhile, Police also approach the fixture seeking redemption after suffering a 2–1 defeat to KCCA FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
Victory for Villa would cut the gap to three points ahead of Vipers’ match on Wednesday against UPDF FC at the Bombo Military Barracks Ground.
Villa could be boosted by the possible return of striker Charles Lwanga, who missed the weekend fixture but is expected to offer another attacking dimension alongside Frank Ssebuufu and Andrew Otim.
Historically, Villa have enjoyed the upper hand in this fixture. The record champions have not lost to Police since 2014, although many of their meetings in recent years have ended in draws. In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Villa rallied from behind to claim a 2–1 victory at Kadiba thanks to a late winner.
