The highly anticipated draw for the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16 took place at the FUFA Complex, conducted by former Uganda Cranes shot-stopper Ibrahim Mugisha.
The remaining 16 teams now have a clear picture of their upcoming battles as they vie for a spot in the quarter-finals.
One of the standout fixtures will see nine-time champions SC Villa lock horns with Uganda Premier League newcomers Lugazi FC.
SC Villa secured their place in this round by narrowly overcoming Buganda Regional League side Simba SC with a 1-0 victory, thanks to a decisive strike from Aslam Ssemakula.
Meanwhile, Lugazi FC comfortably dispatched FUFA Big League side Calvary FC with a 2-0 triumph.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time these two sides have met in the tournament. Back in December 2018,
when Lugazi FC was still known as Lugazi Municipal FC, they were eliminated from the competition by SC Villa at the Round of 64 stage after a 4-1 defeat.
However, in their latest Uganda Premier League encounter this season, the two teams played out a 1-1 draw at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, hinting at a potentially thrilling showdown.
Other fixtures in the draw feature several intriguing matchups. Maroons FC will welcome fellow top-flight competitors Police FC in another all-Uganda Premier League affair.
Karo Karungi will take on UPDF FC, while Gaddafi FC will go head-to-head with reigning champions Kitara FC.
Tax collectors URA FC have been paired with Kataka FC, whereas Vipers SC will take on FUFA Big League side Blacks Power FC from Lira City.
Notably, Blacks Power, under the guidance of Bob Obira, shocked NEC FC in the previous round, while Vipers SC progressed by eliminating Mbarara City FC.
Elsewhere, record 10-time winners KCCA FC have been drawn against Rwenzori Lions, while BUL FC will host Total FC in another exciting clash.
