She Cranes Depart for Malawi as Continental Mission Begins

Following a remarkable year marked by a Celtic Cup triumph, a leap in the World Netball rankings, and an early qualification for the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Uganda’s She Cranes have officially embarked on their next challenge.

The team has set off for Lilongwe, Malawi, where they will compete in the Africa Netball Cup from December 8–14.

Although this year’s tournament does not impact Uganda’s World Cup journey, it represents a vital opportunity to polish team combinations, test new strategies, and build momentum heading into the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Uganda heads into the competition as one of the top contenders, fuelled by their recent international success.

Drawn in Pool A with Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, the She Cranes are expected to face stiff competition, ideal preparation for the global assignments that await them.

The traveling squad features fresh talent inspired by standout performances in the Netball Super League.

Norah Lukuuse and Seera Zzamu make their continental debuts, while experienced shooter Racheal Nanyonga returns after missing the Celtic Cup due to visa complications.
