Six O’Clock Edge Kataka to Seal Uganda Cup Round of 16 Line-up

Third division side Six O’Clock FC produced a late moment of brilliance to eliminate FUFA Big League outfit Kataka FC, winning 1-0 and sealing the final slot in the Round of 16 of the 2025/26 Uganda Cup.

The decisive Round of 32 encounter played on Wednesday at Kizinda Playground in Bushenyi looked destined for extra time before Jacob Kamwesiga stepped up when it mattered most.

Kamwesiga struck in the 85th minute, calmly finishing to break Kataka’s resistance and spark celebrations among the Six O’Clock faithful. The goal proved enough for the lower-division side to knock out their higher-tier opponents and continue their impressive cup adventure.

Despite the difference in divisions, the contest remained closely fought for most of the match. Kataka attempted to impose themselves, but Six O’Clock stayed organized defensively and patient in attack before finally capitalizing late in the game.

The victory officially completed the Round of 16 line-up for the 2025/26 tournament, with the draw scheduled for Thursday, 5 March 2026.

Defending champions Vipers SC headline the list of remaining teams together with several Uganda Premier League outfits including Kampala Capital City Authority FC, SC Villa, Kitara FC, Uganda Revenue Authority FC, Express FC, NEC FC, Maroons FC and Lugazi FC.

The FUFA Big League will also have representation through Onduparaka FC, Bunyaruguru United and Iganga United.

Meanwhile, lower-tier teams continue to add excitement to this year’s competition. Fourth division side Happy Boyz Kagaba FC remain the tournament’s biggest surprise package, while third division outfits Tapo United, Red Devo and Six O’Clock FC keep the dream alive for teams outside the top leagues.

The stakes remain high as the eventual winner of the Uganda Cup will secure Uganda’s slot in the CAF Confederation Cup.
