Stanbic Uganda Cup – Full List of Qualified Teams as the Battle Heats Up

The quest for supremacy in Uganda’s most coveted club tournament intensifies as the Stanbic Uganda Cup advances to the Round of 16.

A diverse mix of Uganda Premier League powerhouses, FUFA Big League challengers, and regional dark horses have earned their places, setting the stage for a captivating knockout phase.

Maroons clinched the final slot after a tense penalty shootout victory (4-2) over Wakiso Giants following a goalless draw at Luzira Prisons Grounds.

Defending champions Kitara remain in contention, having edged past Kampala Regional League side CATDA with a narrow 2-1 success.

KCCA, the record holders, showcased their dominance with a composed 2-0 win against Kuluva Rainbow, while three-time winners Vipers secured passage with a similar scoreline over Mbarara City at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

SC Villa, Uganda’s most decorated side, progressed after a hard-fought 1-0 triumph against Simba.

Other Uganda Premier League representatives moving forward include URA, BUL, Police, Lugazi, and UPDF, all overcoming their opponents.

However, the biggest upset came as last year’s finalists NEC crashed out following a shocking 2-0 defeat to FUFA Big League’s Blacks Power.

While top-tier clubs remain formidable, lower-league sides have proven their resilience. FUFA Big League outfits Blacks Power, Gaddafi, Kaaro Karungi, and Kataka have made their mark, while regional teams Rwenzori Lions and Total FC have defied expectations to reach this stage.

With the FUFA Competitions Department set to conduct the official draw, anticipation is high.

Beyond the trophy, the ultimate prize remains qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup, adding extra incentive for every club.
