Transfer News – Kagawa on Brink of Rayon Sports Move After Flying UPL Start

Uganda Premier League joint leading scorer Muhammed Ssenoga Kagawa is edging closer to a move to Rwanda’s most decorated club, Rayon Sports, following an impressive opening to the season with Express FC.

Kagawa has been one of the standout performers in the UPL, netting six goals in 10 matches, a return that has sparked interest from clubs across the region.

Teams in both the Rwanda Premier League and the Kenya Premier League have monitored his progress, but Rayon Sports are now poised to secure his services.

The Gikundiro are eager to bolster their attacking options as they chase a return to domestic glory, having last lifted the Rwanda Premier League title in 2019.

With Rayon Sports currently fifth on the standings with 17 points from 11 games, Kagawa’s arrival is expected to add cutting edge and experience to their forward line.

The Express FC striker brings with him a wealth of experience from Uganda’s top flight, having previously featured for KCCA FC, SC Villa and Tooro United.

His career path also includes spells with Katale FC and Entebbe FC in the lower divisions, where he built the foundation for his rise back to the top level.

If completed, the transfer will see Kagawa join a growing list of Ugandan players plying their trade in Rwanda, including high-profile names such as Emmanuel Okwi, Nicholas Ssebwato, Dennis Omedi and Ronald Ssekiganda.

Others currently in the league include Hakim Kiwanuka, Eric Ssenjobe, Faizo Kazibwe and Robert Mukhoghotya.
