Kitara Football Club delivered a professional performance to dispatch Entebbe UPPC 2-0 and storm into the Round of 16 of the 2026 Stanbic Uganda Cup on Tuesday night at Royal Park, Butema.
In a tightly contested Round of 32 fixture, the Royals demonstrated efficiency in both boxes, punishing their opponents at key moments to keep their knockout ambitions alive.
The encounter opened with Entebbe UPPC displaying courage and attacking intent. Ambrose Kigozi, the league’s leading marksman, nearly silenced the home crowd with an early effort, while new arrival Samuel Nsubuga also threatened.
Despite their enterprise, the visitors lacked the clinical edge required to tilt the tie in their favour.
Kitara gradually seized control of proceedings, circulating the ball with purpose and probing for openings. Their patience paid dividends in the 32nd minute when George Ssenkaaba slotted home the opener, rewarding the hosts’ growing dominance.
Recognising the need to maintain momentum, Kitara reshuffled at the start of the second half. Hussein Ssenoga and Alex Emmanuel Wasswa were introduced, adding freshness and attacking thrust.
The tactical adjustment bore fruit in the closing stages. With ten minutes remaining, Wasswa applied the finishing touch to a swift attacking sequence, doubling Kitara’s advantage and effectively sealing Entebbe’s fate.
Meanwhile, Kampala Capital City Authority FC also progressed after edging Mbarara City 1-0 at MTN Omondi Stadium, thanks to a brave diving header from captain Filbert Obenchan.
Attention now shifts to the league, where Kitara and Entebbe UPPC will renew rivalries next Tuesday, 3rd March 2026, at the same Butema venue in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
With a coveted ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup awaiting the eventual Uganda Cup champions, the stakes continue to rise as the tournament advances.
