The 52nd edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup intensified on Wednesday, 25th February 2026, with dramatic penalty shootouts, commanding victories and statement performances lighting up various venues across the country.
Uganda Premier League side URA FC needed nerves of steel to see off FUFA Big League outfit Blacks Power at the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
After a tense 90 minutes that produced no goals, the Tax Collectors prevailed 6-5 in a gripping penalty shootout to seal their slot in the Round of 16.
In Kabale, Happy Boys Kagaba pulled off a notable upset by ejecting Kigezi Home Boyz. The contest ended 1-1 in normal time before the visitors triumphed 4-3 on penalties to progress.
FUFA Big League side Onduparaka FC also required spot kicks to eliminate non-league side Football Classroom.

Following a barren draw in regulation time, Onduparaka kept their composure from 12 yards, claiming a 5-4 shootout victory to book their place in the next phase.
At the Kiira Road Police Arena in Kamwokya, Express FC advanced comfortably with a 2-0 away triumph over Ntungasaze.
Goals from Mikidadi Ssenyonga and Henry Wamala ensured the Red Eagles soared into the Round of 16 without the need for penalties.
Defending champions Vipers SC delivered the most emphatic performance of the round, dismantling Pajule Lions 6-0 under the floodlights at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Captain Milton Karisa struck twice, matching the brace from the in-form Abdul-Karim Watambala. Arafat Usama Kiza and substitute Gusto Wa Mulongo also found the net as the holders flexed their attacking might.
At the MTN Omondi Stadium, KCCA FC secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Mbarara City FC courtesy of skipper Fillbert Obenchan’s decisive strike.
Meanwhile, Kitara FC registered a 2-0 win against Entebbe UPPC at Royals Park in Butema to continue their impressive cup run.
URA, Onduparaka and Express join earlier qualifiers including Vipers, KCCA and Kitara in the Round of 16, keeping their ambitions alive in Uganda’s premier knockout competition.
