Uganda primed to host 15th EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games

Uganda has been declared ready to stage the 15th East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games, slated for 5–17 December 2025, after all member states confirmed full participation at a three-day Joint Planning Committee (JPC) meeting held in the capital.

Staged under the banner “One region, one community: advancing integration through parliaments and sports,” the tournament is billed as a celebration of regional solidarity where lawmakers will trade robes for jerseys to foster cooperation through friendly competition.

Local Organising Committee chairperson Hon. Asuman Basalirwa told journalists on Monday, 3 November 2025, that Uganda’s preparations passed scrutiny with flying colours. “Venue inspections are complete, and our medical partnerships are in place to ensure participant welfare throughout the tournament,” he said, pledging a smooth and secure event for athletes, officials and spectators alike.

Medical cover for the games will be provided by a network of Kampala’s leading facilities, including:

  • Kampala Hospital
  • Nakasero Hospital
  • Aga Khan Hospital
  • International Hospital Kampala (IHK)
  • Mulago National Referral Hospital
with Nsambya and other clinics standing by to support emergency needs.

Organisers said fixtures will be published shortly. In a move designed to fill the stands and amplify the festival atmosphere, entry to all matches will be free, an open invitation for Ugandans to come out in force and showcase the country’s famed hospitality.

The JPC praised the host’s logistical planning and urged citizens to embrace visiting delegations from across East Africa.

Beyond medals and match results, officials emphasised the Games’ larger mission: to knit closer ties between parliaments and citizens through sport, dialogue and shared experiences.

Spectators and delegations can expect a tightly coordinated programme of events across inspected venues, comprehensive medical support, and community-centred fan activities that highlight East Africa’s unity. Fixtures and a full event schedule will be released in the coming days.
