Following the conclusion of Matchday 17 in the Uganda Premier League (UPL), clubs are shifting their focus to the highly anticipated knockout stage of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
As league action pauses until March 1, 2025, when Matchday 18 resumes, teams now set their sights on progressing in the country’s most prestigious cup competition.
The Round of 32 officially kicks off on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, featuring an array of thrilling fixtures set to captivate football fans across Uganda. Nine-time cup champions SC Villa will embark on a short journey to Namulonge, where they will clash with Buganda Region side Simba FC.
SC Villa secured their place in this stage after a commanding 3-0 victory over Seeta United, while Simba FC pulled off a stunning upset by edging out Uganda Premier League side Mbale Heroes 3-2 in a dramatic encounter.

Elsewhere, the record title holders, Express FC, face a challenging away fixture as they prepare for a long trip to Yumbe District to take on Total FC at Swinga Stadium.
With a rich history in the competition, Express FC will aim to avoid any missteps against a spirited Total FC side eager to make history by reaching the next round.
Another intriguing fixture will see Rwenzori Lions FC host FUFA Big League contenders Buhimba United Saints at the picturesque Rusese Airlines grounds in Kasese District. Both teams are determined to make a mark in the tournament, with a place in the Round of 16 up for grabs.
With the stakes higher than ever, all matches will proceed to penalty shootouts if the score remains tied after regulation time. Victorious teams will then march into the Round of 16, scheduled to take place between March 17 and March 25, 2025.
