UPL – Villa Look to Keep Title Push Alive Against Calvary at Kadiba

SC Villa will be out to keep their title chase alive when they host league newcomers Calvary FC on Wednesday night under the floodlights of FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

The record champions sit fourth on the standings with 20 points and know that victory would help narrow the distance to table leaders KCCA FC, who stretched their advantage with a midweek win over Buhimba United Saints.

Villa come into the contest buoyed by a commanding 3–0 triumph over URA FC in their last league appearance. With the year drawing to a close, the Jogoos will be eager to maintain momentum and sign off 2025 on a high.

Head coach Zeljko Kovacevic receives a timely boost with the return of experienced winger Sula Matovu, popularly known as Malouda, who sat out after his dismissal at Kitende. Left back Simon Kato Ssemayange is also back in contention following the completion of his one-match suspension.

However, Villa will still be without Geoffrey Lubangakene, who remains suspended, while Reagan Mpande and David Owori are unavailable due to national team engagements.

Visitors Calvary FC arrive in Kampala with confidence after putting together a pair of solid results. The newcomers shared points in a 1–1 draw with Mbarara City before holding champions Vipers SC to a scoreless stalemate, underlining their growing resilience at top-flight level.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, attention will also shift to Najjembe where Lugazi FC welcome reigning champions Vipers SC in another Uganda Premier League encounter, setting up an intriguing night of football across the country.
