UPL – Vipers Outclass Express in Confident 3–0 Win at Nakivubo

Vipers SC delivered a commanding performance on Wednesday evening, sweeping aside Express FC 3–0 in a Uganda Premier League encounter played at the newly refurbished Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo.

Goals from Enock Ssebagala, Allan Okello, and Isaac Ogwang sealed all three points for the Venoms, who looked sharper, hungrier, and more decisive throughout the contest.

Express began the match on the front foot, pushing aggressively for an early breakthrough, but their wastefulness in the final third would come back to haunt them.

The Red Eagles came close nine minutes in when Mikidadi Ssenyonga’s curling free kick forced Alfred Mudekereza into a superb fingertip save.

Moments later, Muhamed Ssenoga nearly nodded home after meeting John Asiimwe’s pinpoint cross, but his header drifted inches off target.

Vipers responded with purpose, and on 30 minutes, Usama Arafat unleashed a stinging drive that goalkeeper Ali Mwirusi pushed out for a corner.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 38th minute. Ssebagala pounced on a defensive lapse inside the area, firing home from close range to give Vipers a deserved lead.

Express almost equalised at the stroke of halftime, but Richard Basangwa’s venomous volley rattled the woodwork.

Vipers tightened their grip after the restart. In the 66th minute, Okello doubled the advantage, finishing calmly after being released by Arafat’s perfectly weighted defence-splitting pass.

Just three minutes later, Ogwang put the result beyond doubt, smashing in the third after excellent link-up play with Okello.

The win lifts Vipers to fourth place on the table with 12 points from four matches, maintaining their unbeaten league start.

Express, meanwhile, remain anchored in 10th position, having collected just nine points from eight games.
