Uganda’s Victoria Pearls delivered a commanding performance to outclass Namibia’s Capricorn Eagles in the grand finale of the inaugural Women’s Day Cup.
After winning the toss, Namibia opted to bat first, but Uganda’s disciplined bowling attack dismantled their lineup, leaving them struggling at 21/6.
A valiant effort from Mekelaye Mwatile and Vilka Mwatile provided some stability, yet Namibia could only muster 71 runs by the end of their 20-over innings.
Making her return to the starting XI in place of Proscovia Alako, Sarah Walaza made an immediate impact with the ball.
Uganda’s chase began on a shaky note as Janet Mbabazi was dismissed on the very first delivery of the second innings.

However, Esther Ilukor and Immaculate Nakisuyi took charge, ensuring no further setbacks.
Nakisuyi, who contributed a solid 30 runs, played a crucial role in steering Uganda to victory with an emphatic 8-wicket triumph.
This marked Uganda’s third victory over Namibia in the tournament, sealing their status as champions of the first-ever Women’s Day Cup.
Individual brilliance was also recognized, with Mbabazi securing the Best Bowler award, Natasha Miles earning Best Batter, and Nakisuyi claiming the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) title.
The tournament, which featured four teams competing at the Lakeside Oval, was played in high spirits throughout.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong China secured third place after their playoff match against Tanzania was abandoned due to early morning drizzle.
Final Match Summary:
Namibia: 71 all out
Uganda: 72/2
Result: Uganda won by 8 wickets.
