Vipers SC secured a commanding 2-0 victory over URA FC to reinforce their position at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.
The win sees Vipers complete a league double over URA FC, extending their dominance this season.
The first half ended in a goalless stalemate, with URA FC showing resilience and keeping the hosts at bay.
However, just eight minutes into the second half, substitute Kenneth Kimera was fouled in the penalty area by Hudu Mulikyi, prompting referee Shamirah Nabadda to award a spot-kick. Allan Okello confidently converted the penalty, giving Vipers the lead.
Despite URA FC creating multiple opportunities to equalize, they failed to capitalize on their chances.
In the 75th minute, youngster Enock Luyima doubled Vipers’ advantage with a stunning long-range strike, sealing the victory for the home side.
With this result, Vipers SC retain their top spot with 37 points, while URA FC drops to 5th place with 24 points.
Looking ahead, Vipers SC will return to action on Sunday, February 16, 2025, when they visit MTN Omondi Stadium to face rivals KCCA FC. Meanwhile, URA FC will aim to bounce back when they take on Maroons FC at HAMZ Stadium in Nakivubo on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
